English Introduction
Nanjing Institute of Technology (NJIT) is an undergraduate university of Jiangsu Province, founded under the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2000. NJIT, situated in Jiangning University Town in the north of Fangshan Mountain, is in the City of Nanjing which enjoys a reputation of “Capital of Six Dynasties” and “Philanthropic City”. With its main focus on engineering subjects, the university provides undergraduate programs in the fields of economics, management, literature, science, and law, characterized by advanced engineering application-orientation. It is listed as one of the committee members of application-oriented colleges of national college teaching and research centre and serves as a centre of training national advanced technology (machinery and power). The history of NJIT can be traced back to the Department of Mechanics attached to Shanghai Tongji School of Medicine and Industry in 1915 (the predecessor of Tongji University) and to Suzhou Senior School of Industry of Jiangsu Province established in 1946.[!G@$|Q;2e

With a coverage of 2800 mu （approximately 1,867,000 m2）, NJIT enjoys complete and comfortable teaching and living facilities, possessing a collection of 1.2 million volumes of books in its library. NJIT has been equipped with the modern facilities needed by the faculty and students, such as the modern training center, basic experiment center, engineering practice center, as well as more than 140 labs and over 110 bases both on and off campus for experiments and practice. NJIT has a faculty of more than 1000, among whom 300 have been granted senior professional titles. It provides 36 undergraduate programs in more than 80 fields. NJIT also has 1 national characteristic specialty construction, 2 key academic disciplines developed at the provincial level, 3 key laboratories of Jiangsu Province, 4 characteristic specialties at the provincial level, and 4 outstanding research teams. The course of electric-mechanic control is an experimental area where an innovative mode is employed to train national personnel. NJIT consists of 19 schools, departments, and research centers, along with 2 civilian-run schools—Kangni College and School of Continuing Education.
