ZJUT has 3 campuses, covering a total area of over 3200 Mu (equivalent to 213 hectares) with a floor space of over 830,000 square meters. ZJUT has 21 schools and 2 departments with full-time undergraduates of 28,000 and postgraduates of 1,600. Among its 2,800 staff members, there are over 800 professors and associate professors. ZJUT now has one academician of CAE (Chinese Academy of Engineering), and three academicians of CAE and CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) whom ZJUT shares with other institutions of high education or research. The value of ZJUT’s fixed assets totals about 1.82 billion RMB. ZJUT has 21 provincial key specialties, 7 provincial innovative bases, 2 provincial research bases for humanities and social sciences, one national key laboratory breeding base, one co-building key laboratory of Zhejiang province and the Ministry of Education. ZJUT also heads a national University-based High-tech Zone in Hangzhou. ZJUT has one post-doctoral station, 12 doctoral degree programs,71 master degree programs, and 55 undergraduate programs. Over 250 research achievements of ZJUT have won the National, Provincial and Ministry Prize in Scientific Inventions and the Prize of achievements in Scientific Researches, among which 10 projects have won the National Prize of Invention and the National Progress Prize in Science and Technology. In 2005, the numbers of applications for patents and those granted ranked respectively 12th and 28th among all the universities in China. Besides, in 2005, the funds ZJUT received for scientific research projects totaled 243 million RMB. In 2005, in terms of the articles excerpted by the three international index agencies—EI, SCI, and ISTP, ZJUT ranked respectively 55th, 62nd and 52nd among all Chinese universities according to EI, SCI, and ISTP statistics.
